The James Sprunt Community College Library is located in the Boyette Building on the campus of JSCC at Kenansville, NC.

The mission of the James Sprunt Community College library is to provide a variety of learning resources and services that enrich the College curriculum and help students meet their educational goals.

Library Patrons
The library is open to students and employees of the College and all residents of Duplin County. Duplin County residents, age 16 years or older, may use the resources in the library, but do not have borrowing privileges. A library card will be issued to any registered student, faculty member, or staff member of JSCC. The library card entitles patrons to borrow materials in accordance with the circulation policy stated below.
In consideration of other library users, everyone is expected to be reasonably quiet. Cell phones may not be used in the library. Cell phones and pagers with an audible signal should be turned off before entering the library. Patrons may not eat, smoke, or use tobacco products in the library. Drinks are permitted away from computers in covered containers only. Children must be accompanied by an adult and are not permitted to use computers.
Circulation
Items are checked out on a two week loan period and may be renewed one time if the materials have not been requested by someone else. Overdue fines accrue per day per item. No more than 8 items may be checked out at any time. Over due notices will be sent to the address on the library records. If library materials are not returned and/or overdue fines are not paid, a hold is placed against the patron with the Office of Administrative and Fiscal Services.
Library Book Returns are located outside the Boyette Building near the parking area, in the lobby outside the library door and in the library.
Periodicals
The library subscribes to a wide variety of magazines that support the curriculum and offer leisure reading. The library also subscribes to a number of newspapers including The Wall Street Journal, The Wilmington Star-News, The Raleigh News & Observer, and a selection of local papers. Periodicals and newspapers are for use in the library and may not be checked out.
Resources
In addition to the print collection, the library offers several services.
There are 10 public access computers for patrons to conduct Internet research only. The computers are for library research and provide links to our online catalog, electronic databases, and the Internet. Students have access to word processing, Blackboard, and other software applications in the Academic Support Center/Hoffler Building.
A coin-operated copier is available in the library. Change for bills is available from a change machine located in the Strickland Building. Copies are $.15 each. The copiers accept nickels, dimes, quarters, or single dollar bills.
The library has rooms in which you may study individually or with a small group. Tables and study carrels are also available for library users.The Local History Room houses a collection of materials relating to Duplin County, North Carolina, and James Sprunt Community College history. The LHR is in the library and opened the same hours. A microform reader/printer is located in the LHR.
NCLIVE (www.nclive.org) PASSWORD REQUIRED
NCLIVE is a free service offered by North Carolina libraries, including JSCC. NCLIVE provides free access to information sources that otherwise would be restricted. NCLIVE allows online access to research materials, newspapers, magazines, electronic books and historical materials in a multitude of databases.NCLIVE can be accessed from any computer on campus and at remote locations with the use of a password obtained from the library. The site is available 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Contact the library at 910-296-2519 for the password.

Points of View Reference Center is a full text database to provide a series of controversial essays that present multiple sides of a current issue. In addition to the immediate list of topics to search, there is a search template. The user can then select from newspapers, periodicals, reference, biographies, primary sources, images and videos. "How to" tabs are available to assist users in selecting a topic and guiding them through the writing process.Library Catalog Online (www.cclinc.ncccs.cc.nc.us)
JSCC shares on online catalog with other community colleges in North Carolina. The catalog allows a user to search the JSCC collection, or any other school on the system. The catalog can be searched from any computer, at any time and no password is required.
