POSITION: Librarian

PROJECTED DATE OF EMPLOYMENT: September 1, 2008

DUTIES: The librarian provides aid to library patrons (on campus and distance learning) by helping them formulate research strategies, locate and use library materials including reference resources such as encyclopedias, indexes, electronic databases and other computerized sources and services. This position is responsible for staffing the reference desk, conducting library orientations and other instructional seminars, collection cataloging, assisting in maintaining the collection, collecting statistics and using the library computer systems in daily library operations. The librarian keeps abreast of the College's activities, policies, library trends, practices, and emerging technologies. This position is responsible for library in the absence of the Director of Library Services. This position reports to the Director of Library Services.

QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Master's Degree in Library Science with considerable computer applications skills including word processing, Excel, and trouble-shooting. Some work experience in library related job duties, including use of online catalog, online resources, and subscription databases. Preferred: Bilingual. Word experience in a community college library. Experience in creating online learning modules.

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Full-Time/Annual

SALARY RANGE: Based on the James Sprunt Community College Salary Plan, Level 11

POSITION: Instructor – Foreign Language/Other Academic Discipline

PROJECTED DATE OF EMPLOYMENT: August 1, 2008

DUTIES: Plans, prepares for, and teaches assigned courses; evaluates student progress and provides academic advising; maintains necessary records and submit institutional reports in a timely manner; assists in departmental and institutional planning; serves on college committees; performs other job-related duties. This position is supervised by the Department Head – General Education.

QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Master’s Degree in a foreign language or Master’s Degree with 18 graduate semester hours in a foreign language. Preferred: Master’s Degree in a foreign language (Spanish preferred) and an additional18 graduate semester hours in English, political science, sociology, or economics or the applicant is willing to obtain the additional 18 graduate semester hours within two-years of hiring. Some community college experience. Bilingual.

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Full-Time/Annual – 9 Months

PROJECTED DATE OF EMPLOYMENT: Based on instructional needs each semester

QUALIFICATIONS: Achievement of an "A" or "B" in the course to be tutored. Minimum grade point average of 2.5, 3.0 preferred. Professional Tutor – Bachelor degree in teaching education, math, science, English, Spanish or related field. Demonstrated competency in communicating with others. Evidence of responsibility, a desire to help others, and a willingness to be flexible in scheduling. Sensitivity to the needs of a diverse student population. When possible, experience as a former Student Support Services participant.

DUTIES: James Sprunt Community College Continuing Education Department is seeking qualified part-time instructors to teach the following courses: Conversational Spanish, OSHA in Spanish, Effective Communication Skills for the Workplace, Notary Public Training, Pharmacy Technician, Health Care Billing and Coding, Sleep Disorder Technician, ServSafe Food (Spanish and English), Spanish in the Workplace, Solving Discipline Problems in the Classroom, United States Citizenship Preparation, Customer Service, Bartending, Becoming an Outstanding Restaurant Server, Introduction to Catering, Meeting and Convention Planning, Food Service Management, Food service Sanitation and Safety, Custodial Training/Environmental Services, Introduction to Housekeeping, Real Estate Math, Basic Day Care, Child Day Care Attendant, Day Care Administration , How to Start and Operate a Quality In-Home Child Day Care, Professional Animal Care Technician.

QUALIFICATIONS: Some teaching experience in the field.

POSITIONS: Part-Time Continuing Education Bilingual Instructor

PROJECTED DATE OF EMPLOYMENT: Ongoing

DUTIES: James Sprunt Community College, located in Duplin County, is seeking a qualified part-time instructor for the Continuing Education Department. Instructors perform a variety of duties to include providing instruction to aid students in improving their knowledge and skills. Other duties would include recruitment for class and follow-up, preparation and training, confidential and accurate recordkeeping. Duties and schedule of work assignments are as determined by Occupational Extension Director.

QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Some teaching/facilitation experience (public schools, volunteer tutor, church related, etc). Ability to display empathy, warmth, and courtesy to students. Good written and oral communication skills. Bilingual. Preferred: Bachelor's Degree. Teaching experience at a community college.

POSITION VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

James Sprunt Community College seeks qualified adjunct faculty to teach for the Huskins program.
We anticipate a need for instructors in the following areas: Mathematics, Music, Sociology, History, Psychology, and Religion. These are college level courses taught during the day on high school campuses to qualified high school students.

PROJECTED DATE OF EMPLOYMENT: Based on instructional needs each semester

QUALIFICATIONS: Huskins Instructors must have either a Master’s Degree in the subject being taught or a Master’s Degree in another subject plus 18 graduate hours in the subject being taught (e.g. applicants who wish to teach a History course should have either a Master’s Degree in History or have a Master’s Degree in another subject plus eighteen graduate hours in History).
